Three suspects arrested Friday, July 31 in connection with an east Bartlesville home burglary all face charges of burglary in the second degree, conspiracy and knowingly concealing stolen property, according to court reports.
The suspects -- Cody Michael Sanford, 19, Clayton Owen Catlett, 22, both of Barnsdall, and Kenneth Ray Smith, 20, of Avant -- are set to stand before the judge Aug. 14 for review. Their bonds are set at $25,000 for Smith, $20,000 for Sanford and $10,000 for Catlett.
The events that lead up to the arrests began when a neighbor at the 400 block of Southeast Yale called police Friday morning after seeing men enter the garage of a nearby residence and take a set of custom rims and tires. The homeowner, having become aware of the theft attemped to approach the suspects who then fled in a pick-up truck.
A patrol car encountered the fleeing vehicle near the intersection of Madison and Nowata Roads. The truck failing to yield, Bartlesville police took up pursuit -- the truck at times traveling at speeds near 90 mph before turning off Adams Boulevard onto a side street where the suspects then stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Police immediately apprehended two of the suspects. The third supect escaped, but was arrested 30 minutes later after being located by a canine unit.
