TULSA -- A former Tulsa dentist was denied his bid for license reinstatement after a special hearing Friday.

The former dentist, William Letcher (pictured below), spoke before the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry about why he believed he was qualified to practice dentistry once again.

Dr. Letcher’s attorney said Friday he's a changed man since he surrendered his dental license in 2011.

More than 20 complaints were filed against Letcher, including malpractice and using his patient’s controlled drugs.

Letcher’s attorney says he’s been sober for the past five years and has been to several rehab programs.

Letcher’s attorney did point out Letcher’s arrest in the summer of 2016 for driving under the influence.

Letcher allegedly fell asleep while driving after taking a sleep aid containing Benadryl. At least five people testified for Letcher’s good moral character at the hearing.
