Paul James talks about growing tomatoes through the summer heat

Tomatoes are the number one backyard crop but growing them can present many challenges! From pests to numerous bacterial and viral diseases to birds and squirrels, growing a good crop of tomatoes can be difficult.

Paul James, with Southwood Landscape and Garden Center, says that on top of these issues, the intense summertime heat will shut down most production of tomatoes!

However, Paul says there are a couple of options if you want an additional crop of tomatoes in late August or September!
