BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -
Nationwide the charity is known as
Emmy's Heart; founded to honor a much beloved grandmother taken by cancer.
Friends Kayla Fullen and Anabella Gonzalez head up a big group of volunteers within their organization called
Emmy's Heart Oklahoma. The volunteers help make the capes and tutus for children fighting life threatening illnesses.
Kayla says "It doesn't seem like there's going to be a cure for cancer anytime soon, unfortunately, so as long as there are kids that need a smile we'll be here with capes and tutus."
The group also takes orders and makes custom-made tutus. For every tutu they sell they can donate two to sick children.
And the hand made capes and tutus are not only for tiny patients, but their siblings, too.
Anabella says "I just really get true joy in my heart to see a child kind of enter a dream world for a few minutes whether they're wearing a tutu or a cape."
Labors of love, following the Emmy's Heart motto: Because every boy and girl should fly!
