How long will food keep?
Some foods last longer than others. A whole roast will keep for up to a week in the refrigerator, while ground beef must be used within a day or two.
Proper egg storage
Fresh eggs can keep in the refrigerator for several weeks. Even though your refrigerator may have those little depressions for storing eggs, it's best to keep them in their original carton.
Storing canned goods
Temperature is the most critical thing that affects canned goods. Keep the temperature in your pantry below 85 degrees, and 70 or below is even better.
What about seafood?
Always buy the freshest fish you can. The eyes should be clear, and there shouldn't be any fishy odor. In storing seafood, the operative word is 'cold.
