ATLANTA - The
Centers for Disease Control has a new interactive
map that features the latest state health data collected by
National Center for Health Statistics. There is a variety of data available with an emphasis on the most recent vital statistics on births and deaths.
For example, the data shows Missouri's mortalities rates are above the national rate for the 10 leading causes of death. Missouri's percentage of births to unmarried mothers as well as it's teen birth rate are above the national average while the number of cesarean deliveries is below.
The site also tracks statistics on health insurance. In Missouri, there is a lower number of people under age 65 without health insurance compared to the rest of the nation. (13.5 percent compared to 16.6 percent nationally)
