CRITICAL CONDITION: Democrats reach another compromise

TAMPA, FL -- Health care reform is chugging along in Washington D.C. There is word that Democrat leadership along with the President have come to an agreement on the so-called Cadillac insurance plan tax.

The Senate's original plan would tax plans that cost more than $8,500 for individuals and more than $23,000 for families. Speculation is that those thresholds would be increased. The original thresholds put the support from workers unions in jeopardy.

The Associated Press is reporting that Congressman Charles Rangel says lawmakers are "shooting for tomorrow" for an agreement in principle on key issues of health care reform. The New York Democrat says those issues include how many American will get coverage and how to pay for it. Other issues, including restrictions on taxpayer funding for abortion, would be resolved later.

Once all the final changes are made to the House and Senate versions of health care reform, there still won't be any final votes until the Congressional Budget Office provides a formal estimate on the cost and impact of any bill. The AP reports that process could take days.
