With cell phones, we all have cameras in our pockets, but despite all the built-in features and filters, we still sometimes need more powerful photo editing tools. The List’s Jimmy Rhoades looked is taking a look at the top three free photo editing sites that will make all your pictures look like works of art.

1.  Picmonkey.com

Picmonkey has all your basic editing functions for free. Premium features are marked with a crown. Pay annually and it comes to 2.75 a month. Break it into monthly payments and it goes up to 4.99. There's no software to download, it's easy to upload your pics, and the effects tools are intuitive, which makes editing your pics a lot of fun.

2.  Pixlr.com

pixlr has all the editing tools you'd expect, and you can unlock even more features by signing up on the site... also free, but now they have your email address. It might take a while to master the tool bar, but once you do there are powerful layering and compositing features.

Photoshop CS2

This is the newest version of Photoshop, which is definitely not free. but you can get the second-ever release of Photoshop -- creative suite 2 -- for free. that's nine versions and 11 years ago, so adobe is no longer supporting it, and it's not being updated for compatibility with newer operating systems. But if you can get it up and running, you can have an old version of the de-facto, industry standard, professional photo editing tool on your computer for free.

Again, these options are free, and with a little practice with layering, you can have a lot of fun, and make some really powerful designs. Having fun with your photos is what's the deal.
