Nicole Scherzinger sings for Nelson Mandela at London awards ceremony

NICOLE SCHERZINGER paid tribute to NELSON MANDELA in the hours after his death by dedicating a song to him during the Cosmopolitan Woman of the Year Awards in London on Thursday (05Dec13).

The former Pussycat Dolls star sang a touching rendition of This Little Light of Mine in honor of the late civil rights icon while accepting the Ultimate TV Personality award for her role as a judge on Britain's The X Factor.

The singer told the audience she had once performed the gospel hymn for Mandela, who passed away at his home in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday evening.

She said, "When I found out that Mr. Nelson Mandela had passed away... it brought a tear to my eye. I had the honor of meeting Mr. Nelson Mandela and had the great honor singing for him."

Other winners at the star-studded ceremony include British girlband Little Mix, who scooped the Ultimate Export prize, Ellie Goulding, who won the Ultimate Music Star award, and Paloma Faith, who took home the prize for Ultimate Style Icon.

Angelina Jolie was named the Ultimate Celeb Inspiration while Scarlett Johansson won the award for Ultimate Film Actress.
