TULSA - Four voters in the Associated Press poll gave OSU a first place vote.
And they were not homer pickers.
One vote from Los Angeles, one from Boston, another from Ohio, and finally a vote from SEC country, Georgia.
Meanwhile Alabama managed 55 because of the defense dominance against former number one LSU. The Tigers getting the final vote. Go figure.
The BCS system has to be changed.
Alabama got the break by getting into the Championship game. They played the weaker of the schedules of the top 5 teams and had already lost to LSU during the regular season.
A rematch is always unfair to the previous game winner. Remember OU-Nebraska rematch in the Orange Bowl? There has to be a better way to get it done.
Meetings are underway to try and come up with a plan. Finally some discussion. Officials say almost 60 plans were suggested at meetings in New Orleans this week. More meetings expected and something needs to be done by July, when TV negotiations begin for the 2014 season. A reminder, attendance and TV viewership are down over 10 percent from a year ago. TV executives do not like ratings drops.
Mike Gundy watched the Championship game and appeared unimpressed, telling USA Today his team would have at least scored two TD's against LSU. Gundy still wondering why his team did not get the opportunity to play LSU.
LSU did not look as if they were prepared to play Alabama's defense. Penalties, fumbles and execution very poor. The option play was poorly done. Jefferson was in hand grenade mode, pitch it to the trailer, and watch his teammate explode.
LSU coach Les Miles was hounded by a member of the New Orleans press after the game. The media member happened to be former Saints QB Bobby Hebert, who asked in an accusing manner, why Miles did not replace Jefferson with QB Lee. Les kept his cool. By the way, Hebert's son plays for LSU and was benched late in the year.
Could OSU have beaten LSU?
Remember, if OSU got to the National Championship game they would have played LSU, not Alabama. I contend OSU would have had a great chance, considering how poorly LSU played Monday night.
Yes, I know Alabama is a toughie, but Jefferson also missed open pass catchers, and the running game was pathetic. I am with Gundy. Certainly Weeden and Blackmon would have done something more than setting up seven field goal attempts.

I needed the rest. So I am glad the Thunder and the Spurs managed to end the second round series quickly.
