TULSA - The University of Tulsa has accepted an invitation to play in the 2001 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, according to TU Sports Information Director Don Tomkalski.
Tulsa will appear in its 18th bowl game in school history and the school's seventh bowl game in the last night years.
Tulsa will face the BYU Cougars on Friday, Dec. 30, at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The contest will kick off at 11 a.m. on the SMU campus.
"There are very few teams in the country that have a richer tradition than BYU. They're known coast-to-coast. BYU is a tremendously successful program for a long time," said Tulsa Head Coach Bill Blankenship.
BYU finished 9-3 for the season.
