TULSA - TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa Athletic Director Ross Parmley says sophomore guard Jordan Clarkson has asked for a release from his scholarship to transfer from the Golden Hurricane program.

Parmley said in a news release Tuesday that he has granted Clarkson permission to contact a limited number of schools.

Clarkson was named as a 2011-2012 preseason second-team all-Conference USA selection by the league's coaches. He averaged 16.5 points per game and led the Golden Hurricane to a third-place finish in the conference this past season.

Clarkson was chosen for a spot on the All-Conference USA First-Team, and became Tulsa's youngest first-team all-conference selection since Shea Seals in 1994-95.
