TULSA - The Tulsa Public Schools athletic director has resigned, according to school officials.

Dr. Stephanie Spring submitted her resignation Friday to TPS Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard, who accepted it immediately.

Spring's last day with the district is Feb. 7, a day which was originally set for her termination hearing.

TPS released the following statement Wednesday morning:

"Because this issue is a confidential personnel matter, no one with the district will have any further comments about Dr. Spring or any issues with regard to her resignation."

Spring was suspended with full pay and benefits in November 2011 along with Assistant Athletic Directors Jon Wheeler and Trish Pruitt

Officer Jason Willingham, Tulsa Police Department spokesperson, said after their suspensions that an ongoing investigation into the possible hacking of email involved the three.

No charges have been filed.

Stephen Mayfield, executive assistant to the associate superintendent of secondary schools, took over as acting athletic director after Springs suspension.

"We appreciate Stephen very much for stepping into this important role," said Ballard.
