TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The University of Tulsa says the NCAA has denied a TU football player's request for a sixth year of eligibility and that the school is appealing the decision.
TU said Tuesday that the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee rejected the request for a sixth year for senior receiver Bryan Burnham.
TU head coach Bill Blankenship says he's disappointed and that an appeal to the NCAA Division I Appeals Committee has been submitted.
Burnham missed the 2008 season due to illness and suffered a season-ending knee injury during the fourth quarter of the opening game of the 2012 season.
He was TU's leading receiver in 2011 with 54 receptions for 850 yards and nine touchdowns.
