IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Oklahoma State freshman Marcus Smart has been chosen the Big 12's rookie of the week for the second time.

The conference announced Smart's honor Monday after he set career highs in scoring in back-to-back losses for the Cowboys against ranked opponents.

Smart scored 23 points in a loss to Gonzaga on New Year's Eve and then topped that with 25 points against Kansas State on Saturday.

Oklahoma State fell out of the rankings after the losses. The Cowboys' next game is Wednesday against TCU.

Kansas State's Rodney McGruder was picked as the Big 12's player of the week for the third time in the past five weeks.

McGruder scored 28 points, with 26 in the second half, while leading K-State to the 73-67 win over OSU.
