Tweeting "I've decided to pursue my dream of playing in the NFL. I'll always be a Cowboys!" Joseph Randle announced he was skipping his senior season in Stillwater.
Randle made the announcement Thursday on Twitter.
He also tweeted, "I want to thank all of #CowboyNation for the best 3 years of my life. Also to the best coaches in the nation for this opportunity."
Former Cowboys and current pros Dez Bryant and Kendall Hunter congratulated him for his decision on the social media site.
Jeremy Smith, a former Union High School standout, said he's up to the challenge in replacing Randle full-time.
"Yes sir! I'm ready to fill the role and do my Job the best I can!," tweeted Smith in response to a "You da man now" tweet from OSU great Thurman Thomas.
Randle led all Big 12 rushers last season with 1,417 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns.
He ran for 1,216 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2011, when Oklahoma State won the Big 12 championship and the Fiesta Bowl.
