OSLO, Norway (AP) -- Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, serving a 21-year sentence for killing 77 people, has complained that he is being held in inhumane conditions and is being denied freedom of expression.

His lawyer Tord Jordet says Breivik wrote in a letter to prison officials that he has not been given the possibility of expressing political opinions and is not allowed to read every letter addressed to him in the prison.

Prison officials were not available for immediate comment Friday.

The 33-year-old right wing extremist was found sane during a lengthy trial that ended in August with the Oslo District Court finding him guilty of terrorism and premeditated murder for the July 22, 2011, attacks.

Breivik's sentence can be extended for as long as he is considered a danger to society.
