BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Woolaroc, former oil baron Frank Phillips' ranch located 12 miles south of Bartlesville, will transform itself into a winter wonderland next week.
The grounds and buildings of Woolaroc will come alight as the switch is thrown Friday to more than 650,000 lights which crews have been stringing since September, according to Woolaroc CEO Bob Fraser.
“ People miss the old traditional memories of the holidays and we are proud that they still exist here at Woolaroc,” said Fraser. He said in addition to the lights, featured at the Wonderland of Lights every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 24 will be wagon rides, live entertainment, Santa Claus, hot cider, hot chocolate and cookies.
New this year, the lights will be on all the way to Christmas Eve in order to allow families from out of town the chance to enjoy the lights.
“ None of the buildings will be open and the wagons won’t be running that last weekend, but people can enjoy the peaceful lights of Woolaroc,” said Fraser.
Entertainment will be available in the Heritage Theater almost every Friday and Saturday night. A schedule of performances will be distributed at the front gate when guests arrive. The main drive to the campus will be reversed, allowing guests to view Woolaroc's buildings across from Clyde Lake, outlined in lights.
Admission to Wonderland of Lights is $4 for adults and $1 for children age 11 and under. The hours for Wonderland of Lights is 5-9 p.m.
Woolaroc is located 12 miles southwest of Bartlesville on State Highway 123 and 45 miles northwest of Tulsa. For more information, call Woolaroc at 918-336-0307, extension 10 or 11 or go online at www.woolaroc.org .
