COPAN, Okla. - Washington County now has extra money in its highway fund, thanks to action taken by county commissioners Monday.
The Washington County Board of Commissioners during their regular meeting approved the sale of a county-owned shop building and adjacent property in Copan to Diamond G Welding, LLC. for $25,000.
The business which manufactures agricultural equipment was the highest of two bidders. Located next to the old county shop on 151 S. Maple Street, the business wanted the space for expansion, according to Commissioner Gary Deckard.
The property sold was a 2,304 square-foot metal building built by the county in the late 80's and around 1.5 acres. The county has not used the space for many years, he said.
Deckard told 2NEWS the money will be put into the county's highway fund and likely will be used to construct a new storage shed for its new shop in Copan.
