CHICAGO, Ill. -- A fireworks accident at a neighborhood park seriously injured two women in Chicago Thursday.
One woman's foot was severed, and doctors say she is in danger of losing her other foot as well.
A second woman suffered fourth-degree burns on her leg.
The women say they saw a bright light coming toward them -- and then felt an explosion.
Fragments of a converse sneaker were scattered at the scene of the accident, along with a partially-blackened women's shoe.
Both women are in the hospital in serious condition.
One witness told reporters it looked like one of the fireworks cannisters tipped over before going off.
The display in the park was not an official fireworks display, so it was not under any regulation.
