DALLAS - A large explosion and fire occurred near Dallas early Thursday morning when a train collided with a fuel tanker that was stuck on the tracks.
The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. about 45 miles east of Dallas.
The driver managed to jump from the truck before impact and neither the train's engineer nor conductor were injured.
Fire crews employed water trucks to keep the tanker truck cool as the fuel burned itself out.
Reports out of Dallas say the truck belonged to Oklahoma-based Love's Truck Stop Company.
About 50 homes were evacuated as a precaution and roads leading into the town of Wills Point are closed.
