TULSA - Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Moore, is one of 23 Oklahoma legislators expected to gather in Tulsa Thursday night for an announcement concerning the city's upcoming mayoral election.
The event, which is set for 5:15 p.m. at the Tulsa Press Club, will be the first public appearance for the 78-year-old Inhofe since he underwent quadruple bypass surgery Oct. 5.

The senator is slated to provide opening remarks and will be introducing House Majority Leader Pam Peterson and Oklahoma Senate Pro Tempore Brian Bingman. Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Tulsa, might also be in attendance.

The Tulsa mayoral race involves a pair of local politicians familiar with the job -- Dewey Bartlett, who has held the position since 2009, and Kathy Taylor, the city's mayor from 2006 to 2009.
