OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is again partnering with Arvest Bank for the annual 1 Million Meals Initiative.
The initiative is a two-month effort to provide at least 1 million meals to hungry Oklahomans across the central and western parts of the state. It kicks off on Wednesday and ends on Nov. 2.
One in six Oklahomans struggle with hunger every day. Most who are served by the regional food bank are children, seniors living on fixed incomes and working families living paycheck to paycheck.
In its third year, Arvest Bank's initiative challenges bank associates, customers and communities to help fight hunger in the more than 120 communities the bank serves. Every dollar raised provides the equivalent of five meals.
Last year, Arvest Bank raised almost 1.4 million meals.
