Rare deer taken by Oklahoma hunter, son

KINGFISHER, Okla. - It's deer season in the Sooner state and one Oklahoma hunter has quite a story to tell.

Jeremie Hill, of Kingfisher, and his 8-year-old son went hunting last week and shot the 10-point deer 20 minutes into their outing, but they were in for a big surprise.

When they took it to Rodney Mueggenborg's farm to have the animal skinned and butchered for its meat they learned the deer was no buck.  Instead it was a rare freak of nature.

"I freaked out," said Mueggenborg.  "Like I said, I have been hunting 32 years and I've never seen anything like it before... It was a beautiful, healthy doe with horns."

Game wardens say the chances of finding a doe with antlers is one in 1,000 and usually happens because of a hormonal imbalance.
