HULBERT, Okla. - A Cherokee County sheriff's deputy was involved in a shooting early Thursday morning that left one man dead.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, a deputy responded to a noise complaint in Hulbert just before midnight.

Upon arrival, someone from inside the home fired at the deputy.  The deputy returned fire, killing the shooter.

Officials have since identified the man as 56-year-old Richard Charles Ogg.  Ogg lived at the residence.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has requested OSBI to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified upon completion of the OSBI investigation.
