Oklahoma has 4th-driest June on record

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma associate state climatologist says the state posted its fourth-driest June on record.
Climatologist Gary McManus says the statewide average rainfall total for the month was 1.17 inches, which is more than three inches below normal. Records have been kept on state rainfall since 1895.
He says Oklahoma also endured the second-warmest June on record, with a statewide average temperature of 83.5 degrees, which is more than seven degrees above normal. The warmest June on record came in 1953, when the average temperature was 84.6 degrees.
He says the southwestern Oklahoma town of Altus had an average high temperature of 104.8 degrees in June. That's the highest recorded by the Oklahoma Mesonet for any month since the Mesonet started keeping temperature records in 1997.
