TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The Republican candidate running for Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District says he won't release copies of back tax returns, or his military and academic records as his Democratic opponent has recently done.
A spokesman for Republican Jim Bridenstine says the candidate has an exemplary record and has already filed the required statements of financial interest with the U.S. House Committee on Ethics.
Democrat John Olson, who released his tax, military and academic records about a week and a half ago, says he didn't do it as a political stunt. He called on the Bridenstine campaign to release similar documents as a show of transparency to voters.
Bridenstine defeated five-term incumbent John Sullivan in the June primary election.
