TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Neal Schon, guitarist for the rock band Journey, will be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame this week.
Schon will receive the honor Friday before Journey's concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa.
Schon was born at Tinker Air Force Base southeast of Oklahoma City. He co-wrote some of the group's biggest hits, including "Don't Stop Believin'," "Any Way You Want It" and "Wheel in the Sky."
Other 2013 inductees to the Muskogee-based hall of fame will be announced later this year, with a ceremony planned for Oct. 15.
Past inductees to the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame include Woody Guthrie, Merle Haggard, Blake Shelton, Ronnie Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith and Vince Gill.
