Porum Public Schools administrators made the decision after receiving numerous reports of flu and stomach-related illnesses.

An Adair County school district announced Wednesday night it would be closing down until Tuesday after an outbreak of the flu.

The flu has hit the state in full force this winter, trumping last year's flu rate by a wide margin.

Nearly 500 people have been hospitalized in Oklahoma as of Thursday, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
