MULDROW, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an 18-month-old girl has died after being found face down in a swimming pool near Muldrow.
The OHP says Lakelyn Thornell died Wednesday after being found in the pool at a home west of Muldrow in Sequoyah County.
Investigators say the girl had apparently left the pool to go into the home several times and her flotation device had been removed. Several adults in the area did not notice the girl return to the pool until she was found floating face down shortly before 8 p.m.
She was taken to a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital where she later died.
