OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma judge has sentenced a 31-year-old man to 140 years in prison for robbing and sexually assaulting a restaurant worker after she made him a free sandwich.
The Oklahoman reports Oklahoma County District Judge Cindy Truong told John Robert Murphy Friday that he deserved every day of the sentence.
Murphy was convicted last month of robbing, raping and kidnapping a young woman at an Oklahoma City restaurant in May.
Assistant District Attorney Suzanne Lavenue told the judge the woman made Murphy a free sandwich "out of the kindness of her heart" because she thought he was homeless.
Murphy declined to speak inside or outside of court. His attorney told the judge Murphy was abused as a boy and spent the better part of his youth in foster homes.
