MIAMI, Okla. - Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say an Illinois woman has died from injuries sustained in a wreck on the Will Rogers Turnpike on Saturday.
Troopers say 50-year-old Margaret Caliendo from Bolingbrook, Ill., died at the hospital around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, about three and a half hours after being injured in an accident near Miami in Ottawa County.
Caliendo was a passenger in a car driven by Ralph E. Caliendo, 63, also of Bolingbrook, according to highway patrol reports.
Troopers say the car was traveling westbound on the turnpike when it left the road, struck a fence and went airborne for about 29 feet. The car then struck an embankment and rolled over once, coming to a rest on its wheels.
Ralph Caliendo was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in poor condition at last report.
A 4-year-old passenger from Plano, Texas, was treated and released.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
