ENID, Okla. (AP) -- A first-degree murder charge has been filed against a 24-year-old Enid man accused of beating his girlfriend to death.
The Enid News and Eagle reports that Jason Dwayne Lowe appeared in Garfield County District Court on Friday in connection with the death of 33-year-old Crystal Star Johnson. Special District Judge Brian Lovell denied bond and told Lowe he had a right to apply for a court-appointed attorney.
An affidavit filed in the case says the Enid Police Department received a call on Aug. 17 from a woman who reported that her roommate, Johnson, was unresponsive. The woman said Johnson had had a fight with her boyfriend the night before.
Lowe was taken into custody by police in Hobart. Police say Lowe had scratches on his face, neck and back.
