McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a convicted sex offender remains on the loose after escaping from an Oklahoma prison.
Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns said Tuesday that 37-year-old Daniel W. Galloway escaped from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center Monday night.
The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/OVPzHO ) Galloway was serving time at the minimum-security McAlester prison on a Mayes County conviction for failing to notify authorities of an address change as is required for sex offenders. He previously was convicted and sent to prison on rape and sodomy charges in Lincoln County.
Sheriff's deputies say a pickup truck was stolen in Pittsburg County after Galloway escaped about 8:30 p.m. They say there is a chance he is using the vehicle, which they say is a 1998 white GMC with the license plate 844 LBF.
