WAURIKA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Waurika man has drowned in Waurika Lake after jumping from a boat to swim.
The patrol says 41-year-old Gary Vance Burkhart II drowned Friday after jumping from the boat with his wife in the southwestern Oklahoma lake.
Troopers say Burkhart called for help while swimming in rough waters and his wife swam to get a life jacket. Burkhart had disappeared under the water by the time his wife returned.
