TULSA - Marie in Sapulpa is just one person we've heard from who says she received a jarring phone call.   She says she and her husband received up to 20 calls a day supposedly to collect a past payday loan or go to jail.

She says, "Here's what triggered my curiosity.  He wants credit, debit or moneygram payment only.  A legitimate business would accept any payment."

Beyond that, district attorneys and police around the area confirm you will not be called and threatened with jail time over past-due payments.

Threatening phone calls can be reported to your local police.
