TULSA - AARP is offering free tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers with low to moderate income through its Tax-Aide program.   You do not have to be a retiree or an AARP member.

If the return is complex or the taxpayer in a high income tax bracket the person may be referred to an outside provider.

Community Action Project (CAP) also provides free tax help to individuals who make $40,000 or less per year;  $50,000 or less for people with dependents.

The IRS also provides free help through it's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) for people who earned $50,000 or less in 2011.
