TULSA - Lottie got in touch to say "Why can I recycle cereal boxes but not the liners? Why are cardboard boxes OK but not pizza boxes?"

There's going to be a learning curve, especially for those brand new to recycling. Click here to see the list of items that can, and cannot, be recycled curbside.  A spokesperson for the city says several items in the "Know Your Trash" booklet are incorrect and this updated list will be sent to customers this week.

However, Michael Patton with The Metropolitan Environmental Trust, The M.E.T., says Tulsa's allowable recyclables includes more materials than any other city he knows of in our area.

Through The M.E.T. you can also find places to recycle those things you can't recycle curbside. Click here for The M.E.T.'s Recycling Directory.

Also be aware where you set your carts for pick-up is important.

They have to be three feet from everything else including other carts, poles and cars and the handles have to face away from the street.

All the new rules go into effect October 1, 2012 when interim service ends and the pay-as-you-throw program is fully implemented.
