Then you're asked for your name, address, phone number and your bank account number.
Government officials say these come ons pop up anytime there's a big change in government policy or when a topic is in the news.
Crooks prey on people's uncertainty or even fear.
Get off the phone and if a number showed up on your caller ID call the FTC and report it to help investigators. The number is 877 FTC-HELP. You can also report it online
Always remember: Government organizations will not call and ask for your info because they already have it.
