TULSA - Cancer is a diagnosis nobody wants to hear.
For mothers, fighting it is hard enough.
Living with it is even tougher.
There is help out there for the day to day chores.
The group Cleaning for a Reason is giving some families a reason to feel better.
Ana Biederman is a mother of four and loves for spending time with her family.
These days she takes nothing for granted, after a doctors visit when she was pregnant with her youngest child.
"I went to the Dr. in January of 2009 to do the checkup for the pregnancy and they said for me to come back for more test and then they diagnosed me with leukemia the blood cancer," Biederman said.
Ana was stunned. She worried about her future, her kids, and her daughter who she was pregnant with at the time. She worried how she would manage day to day life, which proved harder that she first thought.
"I had no energy to vacuum this house. it's just three bedrooms and I said it's too big. One time I had no energy to go from here to the table," Biederman said.
That's when a friend recommended Ana to DomesticAide, a cleaning service that is part of Cleaning for a Reason, a non profit group that cleans homes free of charge for women who are fighting cancer.
"Ana was reported to our company by a friend. We developed a relationship and started cleaning her home two year ago," said Holly Rudd the president of DomesticAide.
There is some good news for Ana. Her baby girl was born health, and her cancer is now in remission.
However, she remains on chemo until she can have a bone marrow transplant.
But she is thankful for help she has received from the workers of DomesticAide and Cleaning for a Reason.
"They were strangers, but they are like family now. I love them. You know you feel better if your home is clean," Biederman said.
"It's an awesome thing to be able to give back to the community, especially during this difficult time for women and the families," Rudd said.
