Orange Barrel Update: South Tulsa street closed for 2 months

TULSA - A street project has shut down a south Tulsa street.

61st, Riverside to Lewis

Part of the widening project between Peoria and Riverside has closed a portion of 61st Street.  It is now closed between Peoria and Lewis while crews put in a new sewer line.

The city says the project will continue for a while longer and 61st Street will remain closed for nearly two more months.

Detour signs are in place to get drivers around it, but they're best off just avoiding it all together.

51st & Garnett

The new project at 51st and Garnett is now in full swing.

Traffic is now limited to just one lane in each direction.

Crews are tearing up the intersection in all directions before putting down a new layer of pavement.

That project will continue until August.
