Orange Barrel Update: Owasso project begins

TULSA - A warning this week for drivers in Owasso.

86th Street North, Owasso

Crews began working on the widening project on 86th Street North in Owasso today.

The project is between Memorial and Mingo, also known as 97th East Avenue.

Crews are widening the street to four lanes.

For now, 86th will stay open, but in the near future it will close. At that point it will be completely shut down and traffic will be diverted onto neighboring streets.

This first phase of the project should be done in August.

Crews will then move on to the second phase between Mingo and Main.

I-244 rehab, Memorial to I-44

You can expect big backups this week because of the I-244 rehab project.

There will be more brief lane closures this week because of some sign work crews will be doing.

This is in addition to all the other lane closures already in place.

ODOT says drivers should try to avoid 244 all together.

IDL ramp closures

Also because of a bridge rehab project there are some closures downtown on the inner dispersal loop this week.

The southbound LL Tisdale off ramp to eastbound 244 will be close from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day this week through Thursday.

Also the westbound I-244 off ramp to northbound 75 will also be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday.
