TULSA - Drivers in midtown Tulsa are facing a big new detour this week.
Lewis Avenue is now blocked off over I-44 because of the 44 widening project.
For now traffic on 44 is not affected, only traffic on Lewis, which potentially could be closed for up to 20 months.
Drivers in midtown can use Peoria or Harvard as detours.
Lewis at 24th
Meanwhile farther north, two lanes are closed on Lewis at 24th Street.
Crews are doing some work on a waterline there.
Traffic is limited to just one lane in each direction on Lewis just for the next week while crews complete that work.
Eastbound B.A. near Yale
And finally some good news, going eastbound on the Broken Arrow Expressway is now not quite as miserable.
On Friday, a second eastbound lane opened up near Yale, meaning only one is now closed.
With two lanes now open, traffic is moving much more smoothly on the eastbound B.A.
Crews should finish their work on a bridge deck there by the end of the year.
