Polls will open Tuesday for the annual school election for Bartlesville, Copan, Skiatook and Oklahoma Union schools, according to election board officials.
Though polling areas will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Washington County Election Board Secretary Yvonne House said voters who want to be processed quickly should vote during mid-morning or mid-afternoon, as those are usually the slowest periods for voting during the day.
On Tuesday, voters in Washington County will be casting ballots voting yes or no on a $49.5 million school bond issue proposal for Bartlesville schools. The proposed bond issue would fund the building of a new sixth and seventh grade center, an 18-classroom addition at the high school which will allow sophomores to attend, and new early childhood classrooms at Richard Kane Elementary School.
They will also be deciding a race for Bartlesville Board of Education Office 6 between Darla Gardner and incumbent Nikki Benson.
Voters living in Copan will be voting on a proposed $350,000 school bond issue to fund maintenance to the district’s buildings, as well as some building upgrades.
If approved, a large portion of the bond issue will go toward replacing the high school's roof and heating and air conditioning systems.
