TULSA (AP) -- A Tulsa woman has finally won the race for a House seat that earlier this year featured a special election, a recount and the results eventually thrown out.
Complete but unofficial returns show Republican Katie Henke defeated Democrat Dan Arthrell by about 900 votes in Tuesday's general election by a count of 7,357 to 6,461.
Henke and Arthrell first met in a special election in April for the seat vacated by the resignation of former Rep. Dan Sullivan.
Initial returns showed Arthrell with a three-vote victory. Henke requested a hand recount that showed her winning the race by one vote -- until two uncounted ballots for Arthrell were found in a voting machine.
The state Supreme Court eventually threw out the election and the seat has been vacant since.
