BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Tulsa man and woman are behind bars after they were caught trying to use false identities to obtain drugs at a Bartlesville hospital.
Harold Ray Monk, 52, and Vickie Elaine White, 47, both face charges of false personation and attempting to obtain controlled substances by false pretenses.
According to their probable cause affidavits, at around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday Bartlesville police were called to Jane Phillips Medical Center where staff reported an incident involving possible false impersonation.
When police arrived, they spoke to a member of the emergency room staff who said White and Monk had entered the ER seeking treatment for pain. Reportedly the two had come in separately, about 10 to 20 minutes apart.
White reportedly had come into the ER complaining of knee pain and said she needed something to help with the pain.
The staff member said when she began taking the two individuals' information to enter into the computer system, she became suspicious upon noticing the similarities of their addresses and Monk's nervousness. She also said Monk looked familiar.
White, the first to give her information, identified herself as Cythia Bates, then gave a social security number and said she lived at the 2800 block of W. 62 nd Street in Tulsa. Monk told the staffer his name was David White, gave two social security numbers, and listed the same address in Tulsa.
It was then she remembered a printout she received earlier from St. John's in Tulsa warning of a prescription scam. The printout displayed a picture of Monk and warned he used multiple identities and social security numbers. She then called the police.
Police then spoke to White and Monk who reportedly admitted their real names.
The two were then arrested and transported to the Washington County jail where they were then booked.
During their appearances in Washington County District Court on Thursday, the judge set their bonds to $20,000.
Both are due back in court on Feb. 17.
