CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) -- The Lewis County sheriff's office has rescued an Oklahoma couple injured on a hike in the Goat Rocks Wilderness south of Packwood.
The hikers, a husband and wife, were treated Wednesday in a nearby hospital. Chief Deputy Stacy Brown reports the 58-year-old woman had cuts to her leg, face and arm. She was injured while trying to help her 62-year-old husband, who had slid down a snow field and hit his head and hip on some rocks.
The man used a satellite phone to call for help on Tuesday.
The sheriff's office says the couple was well prepared for their hike with food and supplies. The accident happened at the beginning of their excursion.
