INDIANAPOLIS - If you've always wanted to watch ballgame with your imaginary girlfriend, a Kentucky minor league baseball team is already capitalizing on the year's strangest sports story, complete with make-believe bobbleheads.
The Florence Freedom, an independent team, will be giving away Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans May 23.
But some knickknack collectors might be disappointed. Inside, they'll find only an empty box.
"This will be the best kind of bobblehead a fan could get, because now fans can make the bobblehead out to be whatever they want it to be," Freedom General Manager Josh Anderson said in a news release.
To add to the imaginary fun, one section of the ballpark will be reserved for fans to sit with their imaginary friends, and a kiss cam will catch canoodling between the couples. There will also be an air guitar contest and an imaginary food fight in the kids' area.
Team representatives told WSBT-TV they aren't afraid of offending anyone with their take on the hoax surrounding the Notre Dame linebacker and his online girlfriend who turned out not to be real.
