AURORA, Colo. - A man was arrested shortly after a shooting at a Denver-area movie theater during the midnight premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
Citing multiple federal sources, NBC News has identified the shooter as 24-year-old James Holmes. Authorities believe he is the only suspect involved.
An FBI official told NBC News that the agency was working with local authorities on the investigation but there was no indication of a link to any terrorist organizations.
The heavily armed suspect was wearing a bulletproof vest, a riot helmet and a costume, according to NBC News.
Police were searching Holmes' home in Aurora, his car and the theater after he reportedly mentioned explosives when he was arrested.
