Florida high school gun case: Student suspended after disarming gunman

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A 16-year-old Florida student disarmed another student who was pointing a gun at him on his bus ride home. The next day, his school suspended him, according to nbc-2.com .

Detectives say the Cypress Lake High school student who had the weapon is 15-year-old Quadryle Davis. Davis was arrested after Lee County deputies say he brought the gun to school.

The victim told the station Davis then stood up and the two began to fight. As the fight continued, Davis pointed the gun right at the victim and threatened to shoot him, according to an nbc-2.com report .

"I said, 'Are you going to shoot me bro?' And he said, Yeah, I'm going to whack you,'" the victim told the station .

According to UPI.com , the victim's mother told local media: "[If her son didn't do what he did] I think there would have been a lot of fatalities."

Florida law allows administrators to place anyone involved in such an incident on emergency suspension pending a hearing, according to UPI.com .
